        "content": "<p>Banjarbaru (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Provincial Forestry\nService (Dishut Kalsel) is processing organic waste into environmentally\nfriendly compost to support the rehabilitation of tropical rainforests\nin Banjarbaru, while also strengthening sustainable area management\npractices in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Dishut Kalsel, Fathimatuzzahra, in Banjarbaru on Wednesday,\nstated that leaf waste from area clean-ups and organic rubbish from\noffice environments is now being managed optimally through a shredding\nprocess using specialised machinery as the initial stage of raw material\nprocessing for compost.<\/p>\n<p>She mentioned that the shredded results are then processed using\nstandardised composting methods, taking into account moisture\nregulation, aeration, and fermentation time to produce mature organic\nfertiliser ready for use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe compost produced will be utilised to support the maintenance of\nplants in the forest garden area, including aiding forest and land\nrehabilitation (RHL) activities in various locations,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to improving plant growth quality, she added, the use of\norganic compost also plays a role in enhancing soil structure and\nmaintaining a natural balance of nutrients without full dependence on\nsynthetic chemical fertilisers.<\/p>\n<p>Fathimatuzzahra emphasised that this innovation is a strategic step\nto gradually reduce dependence on chemical fertilisers while maximising\nthe utilisation of organic waste from various sources, such as the\nForest Plant Seed Garden (BPTH), Nature Reserve (Tahura), and internal\nservice operations.<\/p>\n<p>She assessed that these efforts can reduce the volume of organic\nwaste that has previously not been optimally utilised, thereby providing\nadded ecological value as well as efficiency in forest area\nmanagement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to continuously developing sustainable and\nenvironmentally friendly environmental management practices in line with\nefforts to preserve tropical forests and improve ecosystem quality in\nSouth Kalimantan,\u201d said Fathimatuzzahra.<\/p>",
