Banjarbaru \u2013 South Kalimantan\u2019s Provincial Forestry Service is\nmaintaining approximately 280 hectares of community forest through four\nforest management units (KPH) to strengthen the regional contribution\ntowards the forestry sector\u2019s emissions control targets under the FOLU\nNet Sink 2030 programme.<\/p>\n
The Head of the Forest and Land Rehabilitation Section (RHL) of the\nSouth Kalimantan Forestry Service, Engkos Koswara, said in Banjarbaru on\nFriday that the maintenance activities are being carried out with\nfinancial support from the RBC2 FOLU Net Sink 2030 second phase\nprogramme, involving six forest farmer groups (KTH) across six KPH\nunits.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe maintenance of community forest covering approximately 280\nhectares is spread across the working areas of four KPH units in South\nKalimantan, which serve as the spearhead for forest area management at\nthe ground level,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Through the KPH, Engkos explained that the regional government\nprovides guidance to forest farmer groups whilst ensuring rehabilitation\nactivities proceed according to the forest management plan in each\narea.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlant maintenance includes weeding activities which have already\nbeen completed, whilst mulching operations are still in progress at\nseveral forest farmer groups,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Beyond these activities, the South Kalimantan Forestry Service has\nalso completed planting and maintenance of vegetation along both sides\nof roads funded through the Regional Budget (APBD).<\/p>\n
He mentioned that the vegetation planting was carried out from Marker\n17 on Governor Syarkawi Road in Banjar Regency towards Barito Kuala\nRegency, through to the Margasari section towards Kandangan in Hulu\nSungai Selatan Regency, covering approximately 50 kilometres of planting\nroutes.<\/p>\n
The South Kalimantan Forestry Service is also conducting replanting\nin the Cuka River area, particularly at several points along the coastal\nshoreline affected by tidal fluctuations.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn that area, replanting is planned using bintaro seedlings to\nreplace vegetation damaged by wave action, so that the protective\nfunction of the coastal area remains intact,\u201d Engkos said.<\/p>\n
In the future, the South Kalimantan Forestry Service is also\npreparing a series of continuing RHL activities, including community\nforest development in Pauh, Kabang, and Hawang villages in Hulu Sungai\nTengah Regency, construction of a mangrove arboretum and mangrove\nrehabilitation on Laut Island, as well as agroforestry development in\nLano Village, Tabalong Regency.<\/p>", "url": "https:\/\/jawawa.id\/newsitem\/south-kalimantan-forestry-service-maintains-280-hectares-of-community-forest-to-strengthen-folu-net-sink-2030-1773410300", "image": "" }, "sponsor": "Okusi Associates", "sponsor_url": "https:\/\/okusiassociates.com" }
