Indonesia's Director General of Taxation, Bimo Wijayanto, has confirmed that there will be no further extension for individual taxpayers to submit their Annual Tax Returns (SPT), following an already granted one-month relaxation that extended the deadline to 31 March 2026. He compared late filers to students failing to submit assignments on time, noting that penalties apply as per the law, though they are not substantial. As of 30 April 2026, 12.7 million submissions have been received, achieving 67% of the mandatory target and 83.2% of the overall goal, with positive growth in tax revenue compared to the previous year.

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Director General of Taxation (DJP),
Bimo Wijayanto, has confirmed that there will be no extension of the
annual SPT reporting period for individual taxpayers. This is because a
relaxation has already been implemented throughout April 2026 after the
reporting period ended on 31 March 2026.

“It’s a pity, for individuals, we’ve already added one month,” Bimo
said at the Central Jakarta Madya Tax Office on Thursday
(30/4/2026).

Bimo emphasised that the extended time provided is sufficient for
individual taxpayers to report their annual SPT through the Coretax
system.

He drew an analogy, likening taxpayers who have not reported their
annual SPT by the deadline to students who “fail” in submitting
assignments on time. As a result, they must face the applicable
consequences, namely paying a fine.

“So, if they were students, they would be students who fail their
studies. Because they didn’t submit the assignment even though it was
extended by one month. Sorry, the fine isn’t large. Please read the
law,” he said.

On the same occasion, Bimo revealed that as of Thursday (30/4/2026)
at 12:00 WIB, the number of taxpayers who have reported their annual SPT
has reached 12.7 million.

“The achievement from those required to file SPT is around 67%. Then
from this year’s SPT target, 83.2%. Thanks to this performance, the
revenue growth is, alhamdulillah, positive compared to the same period
last year,” Bimo said.

“So we are still very much awaiting the submission of individual PPh
SPT, as well as corporate PPh SPT and PPN SPT for today,” he added.
",
