The manoeuvring by former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition\nAgency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, appears not to have ceased following his\ndesignation as a suspect in an alleged corruption case concerning the\ngovernance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme for the 2025-2026\nfiscal year at the BGN. Amidst the ongoing investigation, Sony\u2019s camp is\nnow urging the Attorney General\u2019s Office (Kejagung) to examine other\nparties deemed to have knowledge of the issues behind the programme\u2019s\nimplementation. One of the names mentioned is the new BGN Head, Nanik S\nDeyang.<\/p>\n
Sony Sonjaya\u2019s legal counsel, Elza Syarief, stated that the request\nwas one of the messages intended to be conveyed through a letter\npreviously uploaded and which drew public attention. According to her,\nthe defence hopes investigators will not solely focus on the designated\nsuspects but also examine parties considered to possess knowledge\nrelevant to the case under investigation. \u201cWe are also requesting that\nshe be summoned as a witness,\u201d Elza said when contacted on Friday, 5\nJune 2026.<\/p>\n
Elza believes Nanik holds information relevant to the material\ncurrently being investigated by the Adhyaksa Corps. Therefore, the\ndefence is requesting that the BGN Head be questioned as a witness in\nthe MBG corruption case. \u201cTo be summoned as a witness because she knows\nabout the issue,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
This statement adds a new dynamic to a case that has already\nimplicated three former BGN officials as suspects. Sony Sonjaya had\npreviously expressed readiness to cooperate with investigators and\nplanned to apply to become a Justice Collaborator (JC) to help uncover\nalleged irregularities in the MBG programme. Through his legal counsel,\nSony even claims to possess data that could assist investigators in\ntracing the alleged practice of buying and selling MBG locations or\nkitchens, which is now a focus of the investigation.<\/p>\n
Regarding the letter that circulated and became a topic of discussion\non social media, Elza admitted she was not directly involved in its\nuploading. She stated that the management of Sony\u2019s social media\naccounts is handled by family members and the information technology\nteam assisting her client. \u201cI myself did not get a chance to read it.
