Sony Sonjaya, the former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency\n(BGN), has officially applied to become a Justice Collaborator (JC) in\nthe corruption case concerning the management of the Free Nutritious\nMeal (MBG) programme. During questioning by investigators from the\nAttorney General\u2019s Office (Kejagung), Sonjaya reportedly disclosed at\nleast 20 prominent figures linked to the case.<\/p>\n
Sony\u2019s lawyer, Krisna Murti, stated that the names disclosed by his\nclient represent only a portion of the total involved. \u201cMore than 20\nnames were mentioned. However, our client says this is only a part of\nit,\u201d he told reporters at the Attorney General\u2019s Office on Monday\n(8\/6).<\/p>\n
Regarding the JC application, Krisna emphasised that the move is not\nintended to evade the ongoing legal process. He claimed that through the\nJC status, his client intends to be cooperative and reveal other parties\ninvolved in the case. \u201cIt is not about avoiding legal issues, but we\nwant to be cooperative in uncovering everyone involved in this flagship\npresidential programme,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In addition to the Attorney General\u2019s Office, Krisna noted that his\nclient has also submitted a JC application to the Witness and Victim\nProtection Agency (LPSK). He expressed hope that the application would\nbe considered by investigators to facilitate the resolution of the MBG\ncorruption case. \u201cWith a JC, we can make it easier for investigators to\nexpand the investigation into related parties,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Previously, the Attorney General\u2019s Office named the former Head of\nthe BGN, Dadan Hindayana, along with former Deputy Heads Sony Sonjaya\nand Lodewyk Pusung, as suspects in the MBG programme management\ncorruption case.<\/p>\n
Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigation for the Junior\nAttorney General for Special Crimes, explained that the MBG programme\nshould have been managed by foundations affiliated with recipient\nschools. However, in practice, many Food Service Providers (SPPG) were\nappointed due to their affiliations with BGN officials. Syarief noted\nthat these foundations did not actually meet the requirements to become\nSPPG partners.<\/p>\n
The three suspects are also accused of price mark-ups during\nprocurement, leading to losses that undermined the programme\u2019s\noperations. Specifically, the irregular procurement included 21,801\nelectric motorcycles worth IDR 1.03 trillion, 30,000 pairs of shoes,\n31,994 tablets, and 5,400 75-inch televisions.
