Sompo Indonesia has officially launched Sompo Syariah as a standalone\nIslamic general insurance company in Indonesia. Its establishment marks\nthe first time Sompo Group has operated such an entity in any of its\nmarkets worldwide.<\/p>\n
Sompo Indonesia director Yolanda Widjaja said the creation of Sompo\nSyariah was part of the company\u2019s efforts to develop Sharia-based\nprotection services for the Indonesian public.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the first time in Sompo Group\u2019s operational history across\nvarious countries, we are witnessing the birth of an Islamic general\ninsurance company operating as a separate entity,\u201d Yolanda said at Sompo\nSyariah\u2019s grand launch and thanksgiving event in Jakarta on Wednesday\n(21 October 2026).<\/p>\n
Yolanda said Sompo Indonesia fully supports Sompo Syariah\u2019s\noperations. She expressed hope that the company would grow and\ncontribute to Indonesia\u2019s Islamic insurance industry.<\/p>\n
In her view, support from the parent company, partnerships with\nbusiness partners and public trust are important foundations for Sompo\nSyariah\u2019s development.<\/p>\n
Sompo Indonesia has offered Sharia-based protection services since\n2017. With Sompo Syariah now operating as a separate company, its Sharia\nservices and product development are expected to become more\nfocused.<\/p>\n
Sompo Syariah president director Ratna Indrayani said the company was\ncommitted to providing protection that is fair, transparent and in\naccordance with Sharia principles.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur focus is to serve the public with solutions that meet modern\nneeds while remaining firmly grounded in values that provide customers\nwith stability and confidence,\u201d Ratna said.<\/p>\n
Ratna said Sompo Syariah would broaden public access to Sharia-based\nprotection through education, outreach and the development of products\ntailored to customers\u2019 needs.<\/p>\n
According to data from the Indonesian Sharia Insurance Association\n(AASI), Islamic general insurance industry assets reached Rp10.8\ntrillion in the first quarter of 2026, up 13.77 per cent from the same\nperiod a year earlier.<\/p>\n
