Solution to diesel oil scarcity<\/p>\n

As an Indonesian citizen residing in Jakarta, I feel concerned
\nabout Pertamina's predicament in seeking a solution to reductions
\nin the diesel oil subsidy.<\/p>\n
As a matter of fact, the government's efforts to clamp down on
\ndiesel oil smuggling and to reduce its subsidy have been somewhat
\nsatisfactory, but they apparently have not yet given serious
\nthought to the consequences that may arise.<\/p>\n
Selling price differences have resulted in unfair practices:
\ncertain parties buy diesel oil from filling stations to be resold
\nto the industrial sector at a price lower than the government-
\ndictated price (Rp 900).<\/p>\n
With regard to this situation, we would like to offer some
\nsuggestions:<\/p>\n
First, take strict measures against those who smuggle diesel
\noil out of Indonesian territories.<\/p>\n
Second, step up supervision and control pertaining to permits
\nfor the traffic of barges and tankers carrying oil, including
\nmonitoring request and delivery orders.<\/p>\n
Third, control intake and output (check average daily need of
\neach filling station).<\/p>\n
Fourth, purchases of diesel oil must not exceed a vehicle's
\ntank capacity.<\/p>\n
Fifth, differences in the selling price, either for private
\ncars or the industrial sector, must be abolished.<\/p>\n
Sixth, in compensation for the price difference, the
\ngovernment must impose a tax on diesel oil in accordance with the
\nprevailing regulation.<\/p>\n
