The Solok Regency Government, West Sumatra, has declared a disaster\nresponse status after flash floods struck the Arosuka area on Monday\n(21\/9) night, impacting residents and several government facilities.<\/p>\n
Solok Regent Jon Firman Pandu stated in Solok on Tuesday that the\ndisaster response status is effective from today to expedite the\nevacuation process, the clearing of flood debris, impact assessment, and\nthe management of the needs of affected communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going directly to the field to observe the condition of the\ncommunity and ensure that the handling of the disaster\u2019s impact can be\ncarried out as quickly as possible. The most important priority right\nnow is public safety and ensuring that the urgent needs of affected\nresidents are addressed immediately,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The flash flood occurred in the Arosuka area, Solok Regency, at\napproximately 19:53 WIB on Monday (21\/9), following high-intensity\nrainfall in the region.<\/p>\n
The Solok Regent inspected several affected locations alongside the\nVice Regent of Solok, H. Candra, Acting Regional Secretary Masheri Yanda\nBoy, members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), the\nRegional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), heads of regional apparatus\norganisations, village officials, and other relevant parties.<\/p>\n
Also present during the inspection were the Governor of West Sumatra,\nMahyeldi Ansharullah, and the West Sumatra Regional Police Chief,\nInspector General Pol Djati Wiyoto Abadhy, to assess the condition of\nthe disaster-affected areas and the response efforts being undertaken by\nthe government and field officers.<\/p>\n
The Solok Regency Government has prepared evacuation tents and\ndisaster posts in front of the Solok Regent\u2019s Office Complex and in\nfront of the Solok Regency BPJS Office. These posts serve as information\ncentres and hubs for managing disaster-related needs.<\/p>\n
The flash floods also impacted several government office facilities.\nOf the approximately 11 departments affected, significant damage was\nobserved in several offices, including the DPMN, Public Works and\nSpatial Planning Office (PUPR), Tourism Office, Health Office,\nBarenlitbang, Inspectorate, Regional Revenue, and the Secretariat of the\nSolok Regency DPRD.<\/p>\n
Preliminary data records six people affected, with two individuals\nstill missing and four others receiving medical treatment at health\nfacilities.<\/p>\n
The two missing persons are identified by the initials AG (59) and DA\n(21). Meanwhile, ML (54), AS (66), and YN (45) are undergoing treatment\nat the Arosuka Regional Hospital, while MN (57) is receiving care at SPH\nPadang.<\/p>\n
The Regent urged the public to increase vigilance against the\npossibility of extreme weather and follow-up disasters, and to follow\nthe instructions of officers if asked to move away from locations that\ncould potentially endanger safety.<\/p>\n
\u201cDisaster management requires cooperation from all parties. The local\ngovernment will continue to monitor field conditions and take necessary\nsteps according to the development of the situation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
