Two people remain missing and four others have been injured following\na flash flood in the Gunung Talang District, Solok Regency, West\nSumatra, on Monday (21\/9) night.<\/p>\n
The Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and\nCommunication Centre, Berton Panjaitan, stated that the flood was caused\nby high rainfall intensity.<\/p>\n
\u201cHigh-intensity rain triggered the flash flood that hit Nagari Batang\nBarus, Gunung Talang District. This occurred in Solok Regency, and\ncurrently, 2 victims have not yet been found,\u201d Berton said at the\nCoordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs office in\nJakarta, Tuesday (22\/9).<\/p>\n
He noted that the incident also resulted in four other injuries.\nAdditionally, dozens of residents have been forced to evacuate.<\/p>\n
The event also impacted local government offices.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is 1 serious injury and 3 minor injuries. Meanwhile, 50\nresidents are currently displaced. There are 100 houses and 10\ngovernment offices affected. A bridge was severed, but it can now be\nused for emergency purposes. Three vehicles were also affected,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
He added that access to the Solok-Padang road is now passable.\nMeanwhile, joint search teams have been deployed to sweep the river in\nsearch of the missing victims.<\/p>\n
\u201cA coordination meeting to determine the disaster status has been\nconducted by the Deputy Regent of Solok. The Padang-Solok road access is\ncurrently normal and can be used with limitations.
