Solidarity between regions in the post-hydrometeorological disaster\nrecovery in Sumatra continues to strengthen, particularly between North\nSumatra (Sumut), West Sumatra (Sumbar), and Aceh. Concrete support is\ndemonstrated through inter-regional grants totalling Rp287 billion to\nassist recovery in the affected areas of Aceh.<\/p>\n
The Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction\n(Satgas PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster records that the contributions come\nfrom local governments in Sumut and Sumbar. This grant scheme is sourced\nfrom the return of Regional Transfers (TKD) utilised to support\naccelerated recovery.<\/p>\n
As many as 12 local governments in Sumbar participated in the grant\ndistribution. This contribution complements support from 8 local\ngovernments in Sumut that previously provided similar aid.<\/p>\n
From Sumbar, the total grant collected reaches Rp27 billion. Padang\nCity contributes Rp5 billion, while Payakumbuh City and Padang Panjang\nCity each Rp3 billion, with other regions contributing between Rp1\nbillion and Rp2 billion.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, from Sumut, the total grant accumulated reaches Rp260\nbillion. Thus, the accumulation of aid from both provinces reaches Rp287\nbillion, which will be directly channelled to areas in Aceh that are\nstill heavily impacted.<\/p>\n
Head of Satgas PRR Post-Sumatra Disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian,\nstated that this grant mechanism is designed so that aid can be\nimmediately utilised by the recipient regions. At the Appreciation Event\nfor High-Achieving Local Governments in Palembang, South Sumatra, last\nweekend, he emphasised the task force\u2019s role in ensuring the\ndistribution flow is accurate.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe only connect inter-regional grants, so this aid can be directly\nfelt. We oversee the mechanism, from account to account, to ensure it is\non target and quickly utilised by regions in need,\u201d he said in a written\nstatement on Wednesday (29\/4).<\/p>\n
Tito explained that the central government had previously allocated\nand returned TKD worth Rp10.6 trillion to support recovery in the three\naffected provinces. This scheme provides fiscal space for less severely\nimpacted regions to assist areas with greater recovery needs.<\/p>\n
According to Tito, several areas in Aceh still face challenges in the\nrecovery process. Risks of follow-up disasters such as floods and\nlandslides also need to be anticipated, making cross-regional support\ndeemed important for sustaining recovery.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe total aid from these two provinces is expected to accelerate\nAceh\u2019s recovery. This is a tangible manifestation of solidarity and\nmutual cooperation between regions in facing disasters,\u201d he\nconcluded.<\/p>\n
Satgas PRR will continue to ensure that the grant distribution\nprocess is strictly monitored. Supervision is carried out both\nadministratively and in implementation on the ground to ensure\naccountability and effectiveness of budget use.<\/p>\n
