        "content": "<p>Solid waste to be recycled<\/p>\n<p>SEMARANG, Central Java: The administration will soon build a<br>\nsolid waste recycling industry near the Jatibarang landfill in<br>\nMijen subdistrict, Antara reported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\"The industry is needed as the city produces 4,900 cubic<br>\nmeters of solid waste per day,\" said Miswan, head of the<br>\nmonitoring and supervision division of Semarang's cleaning<br>\nservice unit.<\/p>\n<p>He said of the total garbage collected, 68.14 percent consists<br>\nof organic, biodegradable waste. The rest of the garbage is<br>\ninorganic, including metal, wood, rubber and plastic, which needs<br>\nbetween 15 and 30 years to break down naturally.<\/p>\n<p>\"Therefore, the most effective alternative is to set up an<br>\nindustry that recycles inorganic solid waste,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the World Bank has been asked to finance the<br>\nproject through the Integrated City Infrastructure Development<br>\nProgram (P3KT).
