        "content": "<p>Soldier arrested on robbery charges<\/p>\n<p>Abdul Khalik, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>A military (TNI) personnel identified as SY, 32, and a civilian<br>\nidentified as SP, 34, were arrested by police and several local<br>\nresidents on Wednesday evening for stealing a cellular phone from<br>\na woman identified as Magdalena in Cibubur, East Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono said that the two<br>\nsuspects were now being detained at Pasar Rebo Police station.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are questioning them intensively. We hope we can finish<br>\nthe case file right away and send it to prosecutor because we<br>\nhave all the necessary evidence,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Tjiptono refused to specify the rank, or the position of the<br>\nsoldier, saying that police were still waiting for confirmation<br>\nfrom military leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Using a motorcycle, SY and SP forced Magdalena to the side of<br>\nroad on Jl. Cibubur near the Cibubur shooting range in East<br>\nJakarta, and took her cellular phone.<\/p>\n<p>However, both men were very panicky and ran away immediately<br>\nas Magdalena, who was angry and surprised, screamed for help.<\/p>\n<p>A policeman, who was on duty in the area, chased SY and SP and<br>\ncalled up his office for backup.<\/p>\n<p>The two robbers were apprehended by several police officers<br>\nand local residents four kilometers from the site of the incident<br>\non Jl. Raya Bogor, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\"Neither resisted arrest as they realized they could be beaten<br>\nup by local residents,\" said Tjiptono.<\/p>\n<p>It was revealed later that SY lived at Yon Angbekud barracks<br>\nin Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, while SP lived in Gedong<br>\nsubdistrict, Pasar Rebo, also in East Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Police confiscated the cellular phone, grinded screwdriver for<br>\nkey, and motorcycle with license plate B4171, as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Police have nabbed several TNI personnel recently for various<br>\ncrimes, including robbery, kidnapping, drug dealing, possession<br>\nof illegal firearms and extortion.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, police revealed that they were searching for at<br>\nleast seven TNI personnel linked to kidnapping and extortion of a<br>\nbusinessman.<\/p>",
