The Class I Special Immigration Office at Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) has\nuncovered the modus operandi behind the departure of three Indonesian\ncitizens suspected of planning to work non-procedurally as illegal\nmigrant workers in Cambodia. The three were prevented from travelling\nthrough Terminal 2 International Departures at Soetta Airport.<\/p>\n
Head of the Soetta Immigration Office, Galih Priya Kartika Perdhana,\nexplained that the discovery began with officers\u2019 suspicions regarding\nthree passengers on an Air Asia flight, number AK354, bound for Malaysia\non Wednesday, 17 June 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe passengers claimed they were going on a one-week holiday to\nCambodia. However, after an in-depth examination, strong indications\nwere found that they intended to work non-procedurally,\u201d Galih stated in\nTangerang on Friday (19\/6).<\/p>\n
Based on the investigation results, officers discovered that the\nthree Indonesian citizens had previously worked in Cambodia and still\nhad pending employment matters there. Furthermore, during subsequent\nchecks, they were found to possess work permits that were still valid\nuntil December 2026.<\/p>\n
Despite holding work permits from the destination country, the three\nwere unable to present the official documents required by the Indonesian\nGovernment for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). The missing documents\nincluded a valid work visa, an employment contract, a copy of the job\noffer legalised by an Indonesian Representative, and employment social\nsecurity or insurance in accordance with regulations.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause they could not show the required legal documentation\naccording to procedure, we postponed the departure of these three\nIndonesian citizens as they were suspected of being non-procedural PMI,\u201d\nGalih emphasised.<\/p>\n
This postponement of departure refers to Law Number 18 of 2017\nconcerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, as a preventive\nmeasure by the state to protect its citizens from the risk of\nexploitation.<\/p>\n
Galih added that the handling of this case was carried out through\nclose synergy with the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Resort Police (Polresta).\nThis firm action was taken not to hinder public mobility, but as a form\nof initial protection to prevent Indonesian citizens from becoming\nvictims of illegal job placements or human trafficking practices\nabroad.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to ensure that every departing Indonesian citizen,\nespecially those indicated to be working, fulfils adequate document\nprocedures. We do not want them to leave without protection and end up\nas victims of exploitation overseas,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
