        "content": "<p>SOEs need clean commissioners<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The government should appoint people from the<br>\nprivate sector to sit on the board of commissioners of all state<br>\nowned enterprises (SOEs) to help promote good corporate<br>\ngovernance, noted lawyer Todung Mulya Lubis said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Todung, of the Lubis, Santosa and Maulana Law Office, told<br>\nreporters that three of the five commissioners at these state<br>\nenterprises should be recruited from the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, in virtually all state enterprises, the five<br>\ncommissioners are drawn from the government sector.<\/p>\n<p>This condition made the companies vulnerable to abuses of<br>\npower, he said after addressing a workshop on good corporate<br>\ngovernance for executives of state enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop, organized by the Corporate Leadership<br>\nDevelopment Institute, saw the participation of representatives<br>\nfrom 266 state enterprises and 40 privates companies.
