Soeharto visits Nasution in hospital<\/p>\n

JAKARTA (JP): President Soeharto visited Gen. (ret) Abdul
\nHaris Nasution at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital yesterday.<\/p>\n
The President was accompanied by Minister\/State Secretary
\nMoerdiono and his daughter Titiek Prabowo. Nasution lay in bed
\n(right) with his wife, Johana Sunarti, standing at his bedside
\nduring the President's visit.<\/p>\n
Nasution, an army chief under first president Sukarno and now
\na government critic, has been treated for a prostate problem
\nsince Monday, according to Antara.<\/p>\n
This is the second time this year Nasution has been
\nhospitalized. Last month, he spent several days in the same
\nhospital suffering from the same problem.<\/p>\n
Last February, Nasution suffered an inflammation of the
\nprostate, and rheumatism, which forced him to use a walking
\nstick.<\/p>\n
A hospital public relations officer declined to comment when
\nThe Jakarta Post asked about Nasution's condition and why he was
\nbeing treated.<\/p>\n
The presidential medical team is caring for the 78-year-old
\nNasution.<\/p>\n
He is known as one of the founders of the modern Indonesian
\nArmy. He has also been dubbed a military intellectual, and has
\nwritten a number of books, including the two-volume Guerrilla
\nGuidelines, and Indonesia's Independence Struggle.<\/p>\n
He was speaker of the Provisional People's Consultative
\nAssembly from 1968 to 1972.<\/p>\n
During the visit President Soeharto wished Nasution well and
\nencouraged him to recover quickly. (12)<\/p>",
