Soedradjat yet to get AGO summons<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Former Bank Indonesia governor Soedradjat Djiwandono
\ninsisted on Tuesday that he had not received a summons from the
\nAttorney General's Office for questioning as a suspect in a Rp 19
\ntrillion (US$2.1 billion) financial scandal involving Bank
\nIndonesia's liquidity support (BLBI) scheme.<\/p>\n
Soedradjat, also a witness in the trial of his former
\nsubordinate Hendrobudiyanto, told reporters after the hearing
\nthat he would be in Jakarta for a while, but refused to
\nelaborate.<\/p>\n
\"I still have to appear in court tomorrow ... No, no summons
\nyet,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Soedradjat, along with his three subordinates who are
\ncurrently being tried in separate trials, is suspected of abusing
\nhis power by extending credit facilities to now-defunct
\ncommercial banks during his tenure between 1996 and February
\n1998.<\/p>\n
The son-in-law of the late economics guru Soemitro
\nDjojohadikusumo, Soedradjat is currently a researcher at the
\nSingapore-based Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS).<\/p>\n
The Attorney General's Office said that the investigators are
\nstill scheduling Soedradjat's questioning. --JP<\/p>",
