        "content": "<p>Socialists found committee in Java<\/p>\n<p>YOGYAKARTA (JP): Activists from various groups representing<br>\nlaborers, peasants, fishermen and youths have launched a new<br>\norganization called the All-Jawa Socialist Movement Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee was established following a two-day gathering<br>\nwhich ended on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\"This movement is the factual form of new socialism and this<br>\norganization does not have any links with previous socialist<br>\ngroupings. We have a different ideological base,\" Raziku Amin,<br>\nchief of the socialist movement, said without elaborating on the<br>\ndifferences.<\/p>\n<p>The organization is the second to be formed in the country,<br>\nfollowing the establishment of a Socialist Movement in Parapat in<br>\nNorth Sumatra on Aug. 1, 2000.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day meeting appointed several executives of the<br>\ncommittee, namely Raziku and Iranda Yudhatama for Yogyakarta, Eko<br>\nSulistyo and Asih Nur Chandra for Surakarta in Central Java; Andy<br>\nHendraswanto for Jember in East Java; and Muhammad Alfandi for<br>\nMalang, East Java.<\/p>\n<p>\"A socialist movement is different from communism, since<br>\ncommunism is anti-democratic in nature and lacks respect for<br>\nhumanity,\" Raziku asserted.<\/p>\n<p>The new group is also different from the previous Indonesian<br>\nSocialist Party (PSI), he said.<\/p>\n<p>The PSI was established on Feb. 12, 1948 and banned on Aug.<br>\n17, 1960 by the country's first president Sukarno.<\/p>\n<p>\"PSI was not firm in making its stance against capitalism.<br>\nThey think that the current form of capitalism is no longer<br>\n'greedy' like in the past. We think the opposite,\" Raziku added,<br>\nwhile asserting that capitalism is the source of unfair treatment<br>\nand exploitation in the world.<\/p>\n<p>\"Capitalism is also responsible for all kinds of crises and<br>\npoverty, in Indonesia and all over the world,\" the group's<br>\nsecretary general Iranda Yudhatama said.<\/p>\n<p>Yudhatama further revealed that regional committees for<br>\nsocialist movements will be established in Kalimantan and<br>\nSulawesi.
