Nganjuk \u2013 Indonesia\u2019s Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf has\nstated that updating the National Single Social and Economic Data\n(DTSEN) requires collaboration across all stakeholders to ensure welfare\nassistance beneficiaries are correctly identified.<\/p>\n
The minister revealed that data updating involves not only the\nMinistry of Social Affairs but all parties, including regional\ngovernments, working collaboratively.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are two channels for data updating: formal and participatory\nchannels,\u201d he explained during a DTSEN socialisation event at Nganjuk\nRegency Office in East Java on Saturday. \u201cThe formal channel is highly\nstrategic as it involves village leaders and officials up to the\ndistrict head.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that the participatory channel involves broad community\nparticipation through various mechanisms including applications, command\ncentres, WhatsApp, mentors, and volunteers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want as many parties as possible involved in updating this data.\nThe more participants involved, the more accurate the data will be,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The minister emphasised the importance of socialising the DTSEN\nupdate, both to implement the President\u2019s directive and to ensure\nbeneficiary data is accurate and targeted.<\/p>\n
Data analysis has revealed concerning findings: more than 4.6 million\nhousehold beneficiaries (KPM) have received assistance for over five\nyears, approximately 360,000 beneficiaries have received aid for more\nthan 18 years, and 2.7 million beneficiaries are still of working age.\nThese figures prompted the minister to stress the importance of\nempowerment programmes.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf families remain unchanged after five consecutive years of\nassistance, it indicates that the support programme has failed,\u201d he\nexplained.<\/p>\n
The minister stressed that data updating is essential for ensuring\ngovernment programmes succeed and that beneficiary families eventually\nbecome self-sufficient.<\/p>\n
Approximately 11 million programme participants were previously\nmarked as inactive; however, more than 896,000 have since been\nreactivated under various schemes.<\/p>\n
The government has also established an objection period allowing\nbeneficiary families to receive information before being marked inactive\nand to determine whether they should transition to self-sufficiency or\nremain in the assistance programme.<\/p>\n

The minister also appreciated regional government policies allocating\nbudgets for disadvantaged communities.
