        "content": "<p>Mataram \u2014 Indonesia\u2019s Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf has pledged his\nreadiness to assist the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government in\ndeveloping fishermen villages in the region.<\/p>\n<p>This commitment emerged during a meeting between NTB Governor Lalu\nMuhamad Iqbal and Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf in Jakarta on\nMonday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the minister, the programme will involve various\nstakeholders, including Baznas (the national zakat agency) and private\nsector corporate social responsibility support, enabling fishing\ncommunities who have long been vulnerable to tidal flooding and coastal\nerosion to be relocated to more adequate and secure settlements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor NTB I am very enthusiastic. I want NTB to become a model for\nintegrated poverty and social issue management,\u201d the minister said.<\/p>\n<p>The Social Minister welcomed the development approach undertaken by\nthe NTB Provincial Government. He further expressed his commitment to\nparticipate in NTB\u2019s Provincial Development Planning Consultation\n(Musrenbang) for 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ministry of Social Affairs will even make NTB one of the\nnational models for integrated poverty and social issue management,\u201d the\nminister stated.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the ministry will conduct a charitable cataract surgery\nprogramme for 500 NTB residents, with approximately 350 patients\nallocated to Lombok Island and 150 to Sumbawa Island.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal expressed the provincial\ngovernment\u2019s full readiness to collaborate with the Ministry of Social\nAffairs in implementing various poverty management and social protection\nprogrammes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhatever programme the Ministry of Social Affairs aims to improve\npublic welfare, NTB is ready to be part of the solution,\u201d Iqbal\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting marked a strengthening of collaboration between the\ncentral and regional governments in accelerating the management of\nextreme poverty and building a more integrated social protection system\nin NTB.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, the NTB Governor was accompanied by the Head of\nNTB\u2019s Communication and Information Technology Office Ahsanul Khalik and\nHead of NTB\u2019s Regional Development Planning Agency Baiq Nelly Yuniarti.\nThe Social Minister, commonly known as Gus Men, was accompanied by the\nDirector General of Social Rehabilitation Supono, the Director General\nof Social Empowerment Mira Riyati Kurniasih, and the Director of\nCommunity Empowerment Adrianus Alla.<\/p>",
