        "content": "<p>Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, has formed a\nspecial team to delve into various procurement issues for goods and\nservices within the Ministry of Social Affairs. The team is requested to\nreport its findings within the next week. \u201cEarlier, we formed a special\nteam to investigate the procurement issues that we know have been\nreported in various news outlets and on social media. I have appointed\nthe Deputy Minister and the Inspector General to conduct the\ninvestigation, deepen the inquiry, and report it next week,\u201d said Gus\nIpul when met at his office in Jakarta on Thursday, 7 May 2026. The\nformation of the team is intended to provide the ministry with a more\ncomprehensive picture of the various procurement issues circulating in\nthe public domain. He noted that information on social media is not\nalways entirely accurate. \u201cSo that we can get a clearer and more\ncomplete picture of the issues that have been circulating on social\nmedia,\u201d he stated. He emphasised that the issues being investigated\ninclude the procurement of shoes and uniforms for students in the\nPeople\u2019s School programme. In addition to students, some uniform\nprocurements are also intended for teaching staff. \u201cAt the same time, to\nobtain a complete picture of the procurement of goods and services\nissues, particularly the procurement of shoes for People\u2019s School\nstudents,\u201d he said. He said the meeting\naims to seek advice and input while providing explanations to the KPK\nregarding the procurement processes within the ministry. \u201cWe will pay a\ncourtesy visit to the KPK to seek advice, input, and at the same time,\nwe will provide information about the procurement processes within the\nMinistry of Social Affairs,\u201d he said. The procurement of shoes and socks\nfor the People\u2019s School programme has drawn scrutiny. The budget has\ncome under spotlight due to allegations that the price of People\u2019s\nSchool shoes is Rp 700,000 per pair. The Corruption Eradication\nCommission has also commented on suspicions of price markups in the shoe\nprocurement for that programme.
