        "content": "<p>Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki has stated that the\ngovernment is proposing the social forestry programme be reinstated as a\nNational Strategic Programme (PSN). Rohmat said the proposal is in line\nwith Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025 concerning the\nOptimisation of Poverty Alleviation and the Elimination of Extreme\nPoverty. \u201cThe President has instructed the Minister of Forestry to\nincrease community empowerment access for extremely poor and poor\ncommunity groups through social forestry, so this is very important,\u201d\nRohmat said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday. He added that the\nMinistry of Forestry is continuing to strengthen the social forestry\nprogramme, including by increasing budget allocations. Rohmat revealed\nthat the total area of approved social forestry in Indonesia has\ncurrently reached approximately 8.4 million hectares. Additionally, the\nMinistry of Forestry, through the Task Force for the Acceleration of\nCustomary Forest Status Determination, has designated around 368,877\nhectares of customary forests. \u201cThe government is committed to\ncontinuing to expand these achievements,\u201d he said. On a separate note,\nRohmat mentioned that carbon trading regulations in the forestry sector\nopen up new economic opportunities for communities. The regulation is\nstipulated in the Minister of Forestry Regulation Number 6 of 2026\nconcerning Procedures for Carbon Trading through Greenhouse Gas Emission\nOffsets in the Forestry Sector. According to him, the rule allows social\nforestry groups, including indigenous legal communities, to benefit from\ncarbon trading, not just the private sector. \u201cSo this is an opportunity\nthat we must push forward, where the benefits of carbon trading are not\nonly for the private sector or investors but also for communities around\nforest areas,\u201d he said. He also assessed that the number of field\nfacilitators needs to be increased to keep pace with the acceleration of\nsocial forestry approval issuance in various regions. Rohmat emphasised\nthat the Ministry of Forestry will continue to collaborate with various\nparties, including expanding the implementation of the Integrated Area\nDevelopment scheme in several regions.<\/p>",
