Social activities need more funds<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The city's Social Welfare Activities
\nCoordinating Agency is badly in need of funds to finance its
\nsocial programs.<\/p>\n
Suhud Pribadi, vice chairman of the agency, said that his
\nagency is seeking funds through donations and corporate
\nsponsorship.<\/p>\n
\"More funds are badly needed to enable the agency to help 600
\nfoundations which deal with social activities,\" said Suhud, as
\nquoted by Antara.<\/p>\n
\"When the Social Philanthropic Lottery with Prizes was still
\nallowed by the government, the agency got millions of rupiah in
\ndonations every year,\" he said, adding that after it the lottery
\nwas banned, the agency had been forced to improve its fund-
\nraising activities to compensate for the \"lost\" donations.<\/p>\n
Suhud said that, in cooperation with the Institute of the
\nIndonesia-China Economic, Social and Cultural Cooperation, the
\nagency will hold a cultural performance on Sept. 25, featuring a
\ndance troupe from Fujian province in China. (hhr)<\/p>",
