        "content": "<p>Soccer hooligans ready and waiting<\/p>\n<p>SURABAYA: The annual soccer league championship final is<br>\nstill several months away, but thousands of soccer hooligans here<br>\nare ready to flock to Jakarta in support of Megawati<br>\nSoekarnoputri.<\/p>\n<p>Ruslan Abdul Gani, who chairs the Forum for Democracy<br>\nEnforcement People (FRPD), an institution which organizes soccer<br>\nhooligans, said on Monday that 5,000 and 10,000 people would<br>\nbegin to trickle into Jakarta on Oct. 17 to express their support<br>\nfor the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan)<br>\nchairwoman.<\/p>\n<p>\"We won't use force or violence to reach our political<br>\nobjectives,\" Ruslan said.<\/p>\n<p>He denied that the deployment of hooligans, locally known as<br>\nbonek, was aimed at putting pressure on the People's Consultative<br>\nAssembly to elect Megawati the next president.<\/p>\n<p>In Cilacap, Central Java, a group of 100 Megawati loyalists<br>\nplan to travel to Jakarta on Oct. 16.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are ready to talk all the risks, including the possibility<br>\nof clashing with rival supporters,\" a local PDI Perjuangan<br>\nofficials, Supangat, said.
