Smoking causes impotence<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): An Australian health expert warned Saturday that
\nsmoking and drinking alcohol may lead to impotence and premature
\nejaculation.<\/p>\n
Antara quoted Jack Vaisman of Sydney as saying during a break
\nin a seminar on new treatment for impotence and premature
\nejaculation, that medication for hypertension, diabetes, and
\nulcers may also cause sexual problems among men.<\/p>\n
Another speaker at the seminar was Bambang Sukamto.<\/p>\n
He quoted United States research which says that more than 10
\npercent of men of various age groups suffer from impotence. The
\nstudy also says that 80 percent of men experience such problems
\nat some stage in their life.<\/p>\n
Vaisman said a disturbance in blood flow is the cause of
\nsexual dysfunction, a condition that often causes shame,
\ninferiority or a feeling of worthlessness.<\/p>\n
The expert also highlighted a shift in the treatment of
\nimpotence. In the 1970s, most health experts attributed the
\ncondition to psychological problems. Today, it is acknowledged
\nthat many impotence cases are caused by physical problems,
\nespecially the reduced quality of veins in the penis.<\/p>\n
Vaisman recommended medication that helps the blood flow,
\naccompanied by counseling.<\/p>\n
Bambang said between 50 and 100 Indonesians travel to
\nAustralia every month to seek help for impotence. These days,
\nseveral Indonesian doctors in Jakarta, Surabaya and Bandung
\nalready have the skills to treat impotence following training
\nwith Vaisman.<\/p>\n
"Patients of impotence no longer need to seek help abroad, as
\nit only wastes money. Seek treatment here, with cheaper costs and
