SmartFM relaunched in Jakarta<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Amid tight competition among local radios, SmartFM
\nNetwork was relaunched on Wednesday as a general news broadcaster
\nin Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Fachry Mohamad, the station's group chairman, said that the
\nradio had already been operating on the 95.65 MHz frequency.<\/p>\n
"Actually, we've been operating for seven years in Makassar,
\nSouth Sulawesi; Palembang, South Sumatra; Balikpapan, East
\nKalimantan; Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Manado, North Sulawesi
\nand Semarang, Central Java," he said at the launch.<\/p>\n
Programs on the new radio, which will have to compete for
\nmarket share with 45 other Jakarta FM stations, will be comprised
\nof 75 percent general news stories and knowledge-based
\ninformation, 20 percent entertainment -- mostly music -- and the
\nremainder advertisements.<\/p>\n
He said operations would stick to the principle that a radio
\nbroadcast is a motivator to boost the development of culture,
\neconomics and society for the good of the nation.<\/p>\n
Fachry belittled the worry that radio was heavily competing
\nfor just five percent of the total Rp 9 trillion advertisement
\nspending, saying that he was optimistic about getting
