        "content": "<p>Sleman Deputy Regent Danang Maharsa attended the procession of\nplanting a white banyan tree and collecting water from Sendang Bagong as\npart of the \u201cLampah Dalu Lereng Merapi 2026\u201d activities organised by\nHargobinangun Village at Omah Petroek, Pakem, on Monday. Accompanied by\nHargobinangun Village Head Amin Sarjito and Romo Sindhunata, Danang\nplanted the white banyan tree and collected water from Sendang Bagong,\nwhich will subsequently be paraded in the \u201cLampah Dalu Lereng Merapi\u201d\nprocession. Danang expressed his appreciation for the cultural event,\nwhich forms part of efforts to preserve the traditions and local wisdom\nof communities on the slopes of Mount Merapi, coinciding with the\nIslamic New Year or Malam 1 Suro in the Javanese calendar. \u201cThe slopes\nof Mount Merapi are not merely a geographical space, but also a cultural\nand spiritual space rich in meaning. It is here that the values of local\nwisdom grow and are passed down from generation to generation,\u201d he said.\nAccording to him, the Sleman Regency Government remains committed to\nsafeguarding environmental sustainability through various programmes,\nincluding the reforestation of critical land, providing plant seedlings\nto community groups, conducting motor vehicle emission tests, supplying\nwaste management facilities and infrastructure, and educating the public\non waste management. \u201cThe Sleman Regency Government consistently\nsupports culture-based activities. Let us preserve our cultural wealth with\nlove and bequeath a decent environment to future generations,\u201d he said.\nRomo Sindhunata explained that \u201cLampah Dalu Lereng Merapi\u201d is part of\nthe Mount Merapi Slope Cultural Festival, held to coincide with the eve\nof 1 Suro. He said the activity embodies the gratitude of the\nHargobinangun community to God Almighty for the gift of natural\nresources provided through the Mount Merapi slope area. \u201cThe community\nhas long derived great benefits from Merapi\u2019s natural wealth to support\ntheir daily lives,\u201d he said.
