Sketches of Palu suspects released<\/p>\n

Central Sulawesi Police disseminated on Saturday the sketches of
\ntwo suspects in the murder of prosecutor Ferry Silalahi, who
\nhelped try terrorism cases in the provincial capital of Palu.<\/p>\n
The police also deployed intelligence officers and detectives
\nto hunt down the suspects still at large in the province.<\/p>\n
\"We will comb all corners of Palu city and other likely places
\nin order to capture them,\" Central Sulawesi Police chief Brig.
\nGen. Taufik Ridha told journalists.<\/p>\n
Based on the sketches distributed through police stations
\nacross Central Sulawesi, one suspect had long, straight hair, and
\nanother curly hair.<\/p>\n
Taufik said the sketches were drawn up and disseminated after
\nquestioning a number of eyewitnesses.<\/p>\n
He called on local residents who recognized the men to
\nimmediately report to the authorities.<\/p>\n
\"I ask people not to conceal the whereabouts of the two men
\nbecause we have actually found their hideouts,\" Taufik added.<\/p>\n
He said that the police had even identified the suspects but
\nrefused to reveal their names publicly in the hope that they
\nwould not flee Central Sulawesi.<\/p>\n
Ferry's wife, Yulia, said on Thursday the attack was carried
\nout by four gunmen on two motorcycles, adding that the suspects
\nhad dark skin and long hair.<\/p>\n
Ferry was shot dead on Wednesday night in his car outside the
\nresidence of lawyer Thomas D. Ihalaw on Jl. Swadaya in Tana
\nModindi neighborhood, South Palu. The prosecutor and his wife
\nwere just leaving the house after attending evening mass.<\/p>\n
He had been working in Palu for over a year, and like other
\nprosecutors he dealt with dozens of cases, including those on
\ncorruption and terrorism.<\/p>\n
The most recent cases he had prosecuted were those on Bali
\nbombing suspects Firmansyah, Fajri and Aang Hasanuddin.<\/p>\n
Firmansyah and Fajri were sentenced to five years for aiding
\nand abetting another Bali bombing suspect, Achmad Roichan, while
\nAang was jailed for three years for not informing police of the
\nactivities of the other two.<\/p>\n
However, an appeals court ordered on May 11 the release of the
\nconvicts from detention, but Ferry and prosecutor Syahrul Alam
\nrejected it, pending a Supreme Court ruling.<\/p>\n
The body of Ferry was buried on Saturday in Bogor, West Java.<\/p>\n
The murder of Ferry, the latest mystery shooting in Central
\nSulawesi, prompted the National Police to provide individual
\nbodyguards for prosecutors and judges assigned in Palu.<\/p>\n
Police protection has been given to four other prosecutors and
\njudges handling terrorism cases in the city.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors and judges in other conflict areas, Aceh, Papua
\nand Maluku provinces -- particularly those dealing with cases
\nthat could endanger their lives, would also be provided security
\nfrom the police, National Police chief Da'i Bachtiar said on
\nFriday.<\/p>",
