        "content": "<p>Surah Ad-Duha, consisting of 11 verses, carries profound messages.\nThe surah, which is the 93rd in the Quran, is rich with theological and\ncosmic significance.<\/p>\n<p>First, the alternation between light and darkness is a divine law\n(sunnatullah) in the universe. Allah opens Surah Ad-Duha with an oath by\nthe morning brightness and the night:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy the morning brightness. And [by] the night when it covers with\ndarkness.\u201d (Q.S. Ad-Duha: 1\u20132)<\/p>\n<p>Imam Al-Alusi, in his commentary Ruh al-Ma\u2019ani, explained that Allah\nspecifically swore by these two times to symbolise the alternating\nstates experienced by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), while\nalso refuting the negative assumptions some people had about him.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote: \u201cIt is as if Allah is saying: Time consists of moments;\nthere is a time for night and a time for day. Sometimes the night\nlengthens and the day shortens, and at other times the opposite occurs.\nThe lengthening is not by chance, and the shortening is not out of\nhatred, but everything proceeds according to wisdom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Everything in this universe has its \u2018dhuha\u2019 (morning brightness) and\nits \u2018night\u2019. In worship, there is a \u2018dhuha\u2019 period of enthusiasm and\ndiligence in performing deeds, and there is also a \u2018night\u2019 period of\nlassitude and decline.<\/p>",
