Six detainees from the Pekanbaru District Prosecutor\u2019s Office\n(Kejari) escaped during a transfer from a prison vehicle to the holding\ncells of the Pekanbaru District Court (PN) on Thursday around midday. As\nof the time this report was filed, five detainees have been successfully\nrecaptured by officers, whilst one remains at large.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred on Jalan Teratai, Pekanbaru, moments after the\nprisoners were unloaded from the Kejari operational vehicle. Based on\ngathered information, the detainees brazenly escaped via a side door and\ncrossed the road directly in front of the courthouse. A total of 40\ndetainees had been scheduled for court hearings that day.<\/p>\n
The Head of the Pekanbaru Police Narcotics Unit, Assistant\nCommissioner Noki Loviko, who was deployed directly to the scene,\naffirmed the police\u2019s commitment to swiftly apprehending all escaped\nprisoners.<\/p>\n
Intensive pursuit by officers yielded results with the capture of\nfive individuals not long after the escape attempt. However, one\ndetainee reportedly remains a fugitive and is the primary focus of a\njoint search operation in the field.<\/p>\n
As of now, there has been no further official statement from the\nauthorities regarding the detailed chronology or the identities of the\nprisoners involved in the incident.
