Six Pakistanis to be deported<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian government plans to deport six
\nPakistanis back to their country on Saturday for entering the
\ncountry using expired travel documents, an immigration official
\nhas said.<\/p>\n
Director of Immigration Supervision and Operations Muhammad
\nIndra said in a statement that the six foreigners were arrested
\nearlier this month during a raid in Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The raid, he said, was conducted after an executive of CV Indo
\nSaipan, which sponsored the visits of the Pakistanis, informed
\nimmigration officials that the company had revoked its
\nsponsorship of one of the foreigners, identified as Naeem Ahmad
\nTaher.<\/p>\n
Based on the tip-off, some of the officials, Indra said,
\nrushed to Jl. Kebon Jeruk in Central Jakarta to trace Naem but
\nlater learned that he had left the area.<\/p>\n
But the officials did not leave empty-handed as they were told
\nby locals that they should go to a place on Jl. Kebahagiaan.<\/p>\n
After arriving there, the immigration personnel nabbed the
\nfour Pakistanis with their stay permits, which had already
\nexpired.<\/p>\n
The following day, the officials netted two other Pakistanis
\nin the same place for a similar violation.<\/p>\n
During questioning, the six foreigners admitted to entering
\nIndonesia without really knowing who their sponsor was.<\/p>\n
\"They only knew someone in Singapore, to whom they each paid
\nUS$120. That person contacted CV Indo Saipan,\" immigration office
\nspokesman Mursanuddin Ghani said.<\/p>\n
\"They (the Pakistanis) are currently at Immigration Quarantine
\nin Kalideres, West Jakarta. They will leave this Saturday if the
\nprocess (of their deportation) is completed,\" he added. (01)<\/p>",
