Six killed in restaurant fire<\/p>\n
BANDUNG (JP): Sukamto, alias Hans, a seafood restaurant owner,
\ndied here yesterday morning with five of his employees in a fire
\nthat gutted his restaurant on Jl. Setiabudi.<\/p>\n
Another worker, Suyatno, saved himself by running out through
\nthe fire which is believed to have been started by an exploding
\nkerosene stove.<\/p>\n
Suyatno, 20, is in the Hasan Sadikin Hospital intensive care
\nunit. The bodies of the six are in the morgue awaiting postmortem
\nexamination.<\/p>\n
One of those who died was a female worker, 15-year-old
\nLestari. Sugianto, Parimin, Sartono and Sugiatman also died in
\nthe fire; they had been living with Hans at the Sari Nikmat
\nrestaurant in Gegerkalong subdistrict, Sukasari.<\/p>\n
Suyatno said that he and Sugianto had lit the kerosene stove
\nto cook rice for their breakfast while the others were still
\nsleeping in rooms adjoining the kitchen.<\/p>\n
Sugianto went back to bed, but Suyatno went to another room to
\nbegin dusting.<\/p>\n
He heard an explosion and screamed to wake the others. Only
\nafter a second explosion did he hear that they were awake and
\npanicking. By this time the building was already enveloped in
\nthick smoke and flames, he said.<\/p>\n
Firefighters put out the fire in about two hours.<\/p>\n
Sukasari police station chief Capt. T. Kustandi said the West
\nBandung police precinct were investigating the incident. (43)<\/p>",
