        "content": "<p>Singh wins Rally Indonesia<\/p>\n<p>MEDAN, North Sumatra (JP): Malaysian racer and top seed<br>\nKaramjit Singh and navigator Allen Goh won the final stage of the<br>\nGudang Garam Rally Indonesia here on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Singh, driving the Proton PERT, finished first with a total<br>\ntime of 3:01:00.5. He led from the first day of the race on March<br>\n31 in the Special Stage (SS) 1 until SS11 on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Chandra Alim\/Prihatin Kasiman (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III) won<br>\nsecond place with a time of 3:05:54.5 and Aga Kartiwa\/Margo<br>\nSarwono (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV) in third timing 3:11:47.9.<\/p>\n<p>Singh, who has for the past three years won a number of<br>\nrallies in Malaysia, showed he was better than the other 18<br>\ndrivers. In the SS11, Singh roared along the hilly track at top<br>\nspeed, astonishing spectators.<\/p>\n<p>Only 18 of the 29 racers survived in the three-day race.<br>\nTinton Soeprapto with his navigator Rio Sarwono withdrew from the<br>\nrace because of engine trouble with his Mitsubishi Evo II.<\/p>\n<p>Rifat Sungkar also withdrew from the race after his car<br>\ncollided with Abdi Arif at Sialang Lama village, Tanjung Morawa.<br>\nRifat, who is the son of organizer Helmy Sungkar, just completed<br>\nSS6 (Batu Ginting) and was about to start SS7. Abdi was racing to<br>\nfinish SS5.<\/p>\n<p>Abdi's car suddenly appeared in front of Rifat's car at the<br>\ncurve and they collided. \"It was surprise to both of us,\" Rifat<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The Gudang Garam Rally Indonesia which ended on Sunday is the<br>\nfirst stage of the Asia-Pacific rally series.
