        "content": "<p>Singatronics quits Batam<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (Reuter): Singatronics said yesterday that its<br>\nwholly owned subsidiary, PT Singatronics Batam, will cease its<br>\ncontract manufacturing business in Batam, Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>It said in a statement the decision to close the loss-making<br>\noperation resulted from rationalization of the group&apos;s contract<br>\nmanufacturing business.<\/p>\n<p>Singatronics will concentrate its contract manufacturing<br>\nbusiness in its two existing plants in Singapore and Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>The closure of the Batam operation will result in an estimated<br>\none-time extraordinary loss of about S$4.92 million, it said.<br>\nWith immediate effect, there will be no further operating loss<br>\nfrom the operation.<\/p>\n<p>No other details were given.<\/p>",
