        "content": "<p>Singapore drivers get online view<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (Reuters): Singapore plans a $3.7 million scheme to<br>\nextend the number of roads drivers can check online to avoid<br>\ncongestion.<\/p>\n<p>The tiny city state already has multiple deterrents in place<br>\nto control the number of vehicles on the roads, including costly<br>\npermits on the purchase of cars and an electronic toll system.<\/p>\n<p>The Junction Electronic Eyes System (J-Eyes) will monitor<br>\ntraffic conditions at 100 intersections, with selected snapshots<br>\nand video images made available via the Internet, the Land<br>\nTransport Authority said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\"There are many ways to distribute traffic. By giving messages<br>\nover to the public in a real-time manner we hope it will change<br>\nthe pattern,\" a spokesman said. The S$6.4 million ($3.7 million)<br>\nJ-Eyes project will be carried out over the next 18 months.<\/p>",
