        "content": "<p>Sinar Mas unit to form CDT business<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Integrated logistics companies PT Bina Sinar<br>\nAmity and PT Bina Sinar Utama plan to establish the country's<br>\nfirst customs distribution terminal in the Cakung area of North<br>\nJakarta next year, a company official has announced.<\/p>\n<p>The director of both companies, Jo Liat Tjiang, said on Monday<br>\nthat the terminal, also called a bonded warehouse, would help<br>\nimporters and exporters to improve the efficiency of their<br>\nlogistical operation.<\/p>\n<p>\"The concept still needs finalizing, but we plan to realize it<br>\nby next year,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Tjiang added that Indonesia offers opportunities for opening<br>\nthe distribution terminal as the country's manufacturing sector<br>\nimports up to 80 percent of its raw materials.<\/p>\n<p>The two companies are jointly owned by the Sinar Mas Group,<br>\nJapan's Nisho Iwai, Sankyu and Itochu, and Taiwan's Amity Group.<\/p>\n<p>Bina Sinar Amity operates a container yard, warehouse facility<br>\nand container depot, while Bina Sinar Utama provides customs<br>\nclearance services, freight and forwarding, transportation and<br>\ncontainer repair service.<\/p>\n<p>The two companies recently received the ISO 9002 management<br>\nsystem certification from the Netherlands' KEMA Registered<br>\nQuality.<\/p>\n<p>Tjiang said the two companies enjoyed a combined turnover of<br>\nRp 70 billion last year, and were expected to grow by 20 percent<br>\nthis year.<\/p>\n<p>He also said the companies planned to go public next year if<br>\nthe country's economic condition improved.<\/p>\n<p>\"If Indonesia's economic condition improves next year, we will<br>\nlaunch an initial public offering (IPO),\" he said, adding that<br>\nthe company aimed at becoming the market leader in 2002.<\/p>\n<p>Tjiang declined to provide details.(rei)<\/p>",
