PT Hutama Marga Waskita (Hamawas) will operate the Sinaksak-Simpang\nPanei section of the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat toll road\ntoll-free beginning 13 March 2026 at 07:00 WIB to support the\ngovernment\u2019s efforts in facilitating smooth travel flow during the Eid\n2026 exodus and return migration period.<\/p>\n
Hamawas Chief Executive Dindin Solakhuddin stated that extensive\npreparations have been completed to ensure smooth operations during the\nEid holiday season. These include upgrading services in accordance with\nMinimum Service Standards, beautification projects, enhanced safety\nfacilities, and personnel readiness to ensure safe and comfortable\ntravel for road users.<\/p>\n
\u201cOperating the Sinaksak-Simpang Panei toll road toll-free is part of\nour commitment to supporting smooth travel during Eid 2026,\u201d Dindin\nsaid. \u201cHamawas is committed to ensuring services prioritise safety,\nefficiency, and user comfort through infrastructure readiness, personnel\npreparation, and intensive coordination with relevant agencies.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Sinaksak-Simpang Panei toll road section has become a favoured\nroute for travellers heading to the Lake Toba tourism area. Beyond\nreducing travel time, the toll road facilitates more efficient logistics\ndistribution across North Sumatra. The improved connectivity is expected\nto enhance travel experience, stimulate regional economic growth,\nincrease public mobility, and strengthen toll road infrastructure\u2019s role\nas a driver of regional development.<\/p>\n
During the toll-free operation, users will not be charged to use the\nSinaksak-Simpang Panei section itself. However, drivers entering from\nMedan Raya or Tebing Tinggi and exiting at Simpang Panei toll gate will\nbe charged existing tariffs up to the Sinaksak toll gate.<\/p>\n
Dindin expressed hope that the toll-free operation will provide\nsignificant benefits to the public, particularly in accelerating\nconnectivity to hometowns during Eid 2026. \u201cThe toll road\u2019s presence is\nexpected to facilitate smooth travel flows, enhance passenger comfort,\nand provide a more efficient alternative route for travellers across\nNorth Sumatra, making journeys home safer, smoother, and more\ncomfortable,\u201d Dindin explained.<\/p>\n
Hamawas, working with the local Transportation and Traffic Police\ndepartments, has established service posts to ensure road user safety\nand assistance. A total of 38 emergency vehicles have been prepared,\nincluding tow trucks, highway patrol vehicles, rescue units, and\nambulances to provide security and comfort for road users.<\/p>\n
Hamawas urged all road users to comply with traffic regulations and\ntoll road provisions, maintaining speeds between 60 and 100 km\/h and\navoiding the hard shoulder except in emergencies.
