        "content": "<p>Simplify licensing procedure<\/p>\n<p>From Bisnis Indonesia<\/p>\n<p>With a view to reducing the increasing rate of unemployment as<br>\na result of recent layoffs, the government must take speedy<br>\naction to expand employment opportunities. In this respect, the<br>\ngovernment must, for example, simplify or revamp the procedure<br>\nfor granting business licenses, particularly in the case of small<br>\nenterprises.<\/p>\n<p>The government should allow a time concession for newly<br>\nestablished business undertakings in processing its taxpayer code<br>\nnumber and business license. Business undertakings should be<br>\nallowed to go on while the taxpayer code numbers and the business<br>\nlicenses are processed, say, one year. The business operators<br>\nneed immediate earnings to feed their families and certainly<br>\ncannot wait for a few months, a length of time usually taken to<br>\nprocess the taxpayer code number and a business license in the<br>\nnormal course of events, before they start with their business<br>\nundertakings.<\/p>\n<p>They also need tax concessions or even tax exemption, at least<br>\nin the first year of operations, just like large companies who<br>\nenjoy their tax holiday.<\/p>\n<p>In this way, people having only a little capital can easily<br>\nrun their business.<\/p>\n<p>In this respect, the advantage to the government is that with<br>\nmore and more businesses being successfully run, it can enjoy<br>\nhigher tax receipts and see a decline in the unemployment rate.<br>\nThe government should not hamper someone wishing to start a<br>\nbusiness but should, instead, give him the right directive, while<br>\nat the same time, still requiring him to process his business<br>\nlicense.<\/p>\n<p>Isn't it actually the very duty shouldered by the civil<br>\nservice, namely serving the people (or, perhaps I am mistaken?)?<\/p>\n<p>I appeal to our legislators at the House of Representatives<br>\nthat they fight for what I have suggested.<\/p>\n<p>SURYANTO W.<\/p>\n<p>Bekasi, West Java<\/p>",
