The Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Affairs has suspended\neight officials who have been designated as suspects in a bribery case\ninvolving the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals.<\/p>\n
One of those suspended is the Deputy Minister of Immigration and\nCorrectional Affairs, Silmy Karim.<\/p>\n
Minister of Immigration and Correctional Affairs, Agus Andrianto,\nstated that the suspension is being carried out as an internal\ndisciplinary sanction against the suspects. He added that the suspension\nis also intended to ensure that the legal process at the KPK can proceed\nquickly.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a step in enforcing internal discipline, the Ministry of\nImmigration and Correctional Affairs has suspended the officials in\nquestion from their positions,\u201d he said in a written statement on\nThursday (June 4).<\/p>\n
\u201cThis step is taken to ensure that the legal process can proceed\nwithout obstacles, while also maintaining the smooth functioning of\npublic services,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Agus assured that his ministry fully supports the\nongoing legal process at the KPK. The Ministry of Immigration and\nCorrectional Affairs will also be cooperative and provide access to data\nand documents needed by investigators to uncover the case.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ongoing legal process must be supported, and I ask all parties\nto be accommodating in supporting this process,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
He added that the actions taken by the KPK also serve as a momentum\nfor reform and strengthening immigration governance to be more\ntransparent and accountable.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat is happening now is also a moment for us to reform and\nstrengthen immigration governance to be more transparent and\naccountable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Previously, the KPK named the Deputy Minister of Immigration and\nCorrectional Affairs, Silmy Karim, as a suspect in a bribery and\ngratification case related to the processing of residence permits for\nforeign nationals.<\/p>\n
In addition, the KPK also named the former Acting Director General of\nImmigration for the 2024-2025 period, Saffar Muhammad Godam (SMG), as\nwell as the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of\nImmigration for West Java, Jaya Saputra (JS); Head of the\nSub-Directorate for Residence Permit Transfers at the Directorate\nGeneral of Immigration, Tessar Bayu Setyaji (TBS).<\/p>\n
Also named as suspects were the Head of the Sub-Directorate at the\nDirectorate of Residence Permits, Bagus Bramantyo (BGS); Head of the\nClass I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office for West Jakarta 2025-2026,\nRonald Arman Abdullah (RAA); Head of the ITAS Residence Permit Transfer\nTeam, Juniadi Sri Priambudi (JSP); and Staff of the Residence Permit\nSub-Directorate, Gusti Benardiansyah (GST).<\/p>\n
The designation of suspects is a continuation of the Surprise\nOperation (OTT) conducted in West Jakarta on June 2-3, 2026.<\/p>\n
During the operation, the KPK seized at least four cars, nine\nmotorcycles, and seven bicycles.
