Silence is not always golden<\/p>\n
Silence is golden seems to have been Megawati's principle in
\nresponding to some issues in the past. This stance has proven
\neffective and has had a positive impact on people's belief in
\nrespect to her maturity and capacity to lead the nation toward a
\nbetter future.<\/p>\n
However, in the case of A.M. Saefuddin's recent statement, in
\nmy opinion Megawati should gently break her silence. Being
\nanonymously declared the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI)
\nPerjuangan's presidential candidate, now is the right time for
\nher, in the spirit of transparency, to publicly announce her
\nhistory, revealing her family tree, career, wealth and, last but
\nnot least, the crucial question about her religion.<\/p>\n
I do believe that by doing this she would contribute much to
\nour nation building in respect to people's mental readiness to
\naccept things as they are, rather than letting people live with
\nfalsehoods.<\/p>\n
Such real golden action should also be followed by public
\nfigures like Amien Rais, Matori Abdul Jalil or others in a
\nposition to stand for president, otherwise the tendency to repeat
\nthe same \"old song\" would continue, i.e keeping a candidate
\nsecret until the right time.<\/p>\n
