        "content": "<p>Siemens invests in Malaysia<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Germany electronic and engineering giant<br>\nSiemens AG is to invest an initial 30 million ringgit (US$12<br>\nmillion) to set up operations in Malaysia's newly created high-<br>\ntechnology zone.<\/p>\n<p>The group will form a subsidiary, Siemens Multimedia Sdn.<br>\nBhd., to tap the \"multi-purposed smartcard\" and electronic<br>\ngovernment projects, said Christian Urbanke, managing director of<br>\nSiemens Electrical Engineering here.<\/p>\n<p>The money would be used to buy equipment and fund training<br>\nprograms, research and development in the multimedia super<br>\ncorridor (MSC) for the first two years, Urbanke told Bernama news<br>\nagency in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>The MSC, the pet project of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad,<br>\nis for computers and technology-related industries and is aimed<br>\nat setting the pace for Malaysia to enter the information-<br>\ntechnology era.<\/p>",
