Shut down STPDN<\/p>\n

At first, I was against closing down the Public Administration
\nInstitute (STPDN) following the death of Wahyu Hidayat. I thought
\na better solution was to abolish the militaristic features of
\nthis institute.<\/p>\n
However, after watching a report titled Torture behind the
\nwalls of STPDN -- aired by private television station SCTV on
\nSept. 21, 2003 -- I changed my mind. The report graphically
\nillustrates that STPDN is not an educational institute. Rather,
\nit is a place where civilized people are transformed into
\nsavages.<\/p>\n
Closing the institute is the best solution, given the immoral
\nbehavior that is deeply rooted in the students and some of the
\ninstitute's management. They have established something akin to a
\ngang.<\/p>\n
The students must be sent back to their home provinces to stop
\nsuch brutality, remembering that the brutality of gangs is
\nlargely inspired by peer pressure.<\/p>\n
Then, provincial administrations should send students to
\nuniversities in their respective provinces. As for the assets of
\nSTPDN, they can be utilized for other purposes.<\/p>\n
Finally, legal action must be taken against those involved in
\nsadistic practices at STPDN and those responsible for allowing
\nsuch practices.<\/p>\n
