        "content": "<p>Shoreline remains untapped resource<\/p>\n<p>BOGOR, West Java: The director of the center for coastal and<br>\nsea resources, Rokhmin Dahuri, said Indonesia's shoreline<br>\npotential remained an untapped resource which could greatly help<br>\nthe country in this time of crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\"Ventures in this field are labor intensive, produce<br>\nsustenance, require minimal imported capital and are<br>\ntheoretically and environmentally sustainable,\" he said during<br>\nthe opening of the first national conference on coastal sea<br>\nresources here yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>He said Indonesia's 81,000 kilometers of coastline was<br>\nunderutilized.<\/p>\n<p>He said other countries with far more limited resources were<br>\nmore productive. He pointed out that Thailand, with a coastline<br>\nof just 2,600 kilometers, received about as much as Indonesia in<br>\ndollar value.<\/p>\n<p>Rokhmin added that countries like France and Norway, even with<br>\nlimited coastlines, earned over US$2 billion from oyster and<br>\nsalmon exports.
