The leadership of the Great Indonesian Christian Movement (Gekira)\ndistributed basic food provisions to communities at NT Tower Pulomas,\nRawasari, Semper and Pesanggrahan, Jakarta on Saturday, 14 March 2026.\nThis activity formed part of efforts to strengthen social solidarity and\nreinforce the spirit of tolerance amongst followers of different faiths\nahead of Eid al-Fitr.<\/p>\n
Nikson Silalahi, Chairman of Gekira\u2019s Central Board, stated that the\nactivity represented a concrete expression of Gekira\u2019s care and social\nsolidarity towards communities undertaking the Ramadan fast.<\/p>\n
\u201cRamadan is an excellent opportunity to reinforce the spirit of\ntogetherness. We want to reach out to communities through the\ndistribution of basic provisions as a manifestation of sharing love and\ncompassion with our Muslim brothers and sisters who are observing the\nRamadan fast,\u201d said Nikson.<\/p>\n
In alignment with Nikson\u2019s remarks, the Deputy Chairman of Gekira\u2019s\nCentral Board for Social, Cultural and Environmental Affairs stated that\nthe activity also formed part of efforts to build a national life\nfounded on values of tolerance and brotherhood.<\/p>\n
He added that this action also aligned with President Prabowo\nSubianto\u2019s message encouraging all national elements, including party\ncadres, to actively engage with communities and strengthen the spirit of\ntogetherness.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmidst Indonesia\u2019s diversity, this spirit of sharing becomes a\nbridge that strengthens unity. This is what President Prabowo\nconsistently emphasises at every opportunity, encouraging all cadres to\npractise the principles enshrined in Pancasila, particularly the values\nof unity and humanity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe clearly understand President Prabowo\u2019s message for cadres to\ncontinue engaging with communities, not merely speaking about unity but\nalso practising it in daily life,\u201d Yeremias added.<\/p>\n
He assessed that simple social movements that address community needs\ncan be an effective way to foster warmth in community life.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to be part of a social movement that strengthens the sense\nof brotherhood as fellow citizens. When communities feel our presence,\nthat is where the value of unity truly comes alive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the distribution of basic provisions addresses the\nneeds of the most vulnerable communities. He stated that social\nassistance activities would continue as part of Gekira\u2019s commitment to\nserving communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe see directly that as Eid approaches, community needs increase.\nFor this reason, Gekira endeavours to serve through the distribution of\nbasic provisions as an expression of care and social solidarity,\u201d said\nMelki.<\/p>\n
He added that the activity was expected to strengthen the spirit of\ntogetherness amongst communities.<\/p>\n
