        "content": "<p>PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara (SGN) and the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU)\nare joining forces to support the national sugar industry in order to\ncreate a multiplier effect for the economy and the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSynergy with various parties is an important part of accelerating\nthe improvement of sugarcane productivity while supporting the\nachievement of national sugar self-sufficiency,\u201d said SGN President\nDirector Mahmudi in a statement in Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Mahmudi said strengthening the sugarcane sector is not only related\nto increasing sugar production but also to optimising the use of\nresources, improving farmers\u2019 welfare, and strengthening the sugar\nindustry\u2019s contribution to national food security.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, he stressed that the multiplier effect of the sugar\nindustry ecosystem requires cross-sector collaboration to strengthen the\nsector from upstream to downstream.<\/p>\n<p>This synergy, he said, is needed in land development, productivity\nimprovement, human resource quality enhancement, and other areas.<\/p>\n<p>He also assured that SGN is ready to play its role and continue\ncontributing to supporting the government\u2019s agenda to achieve sugar\nself-sufficiency and strengthen Indonesia\u2019s food security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are optimistic that through directed and sustainable\ncollaboration, the potential of the sugarcane sector can be further\noptimised,\u201d said Mahmudi.<\/p>\n<p>Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (KSAU) Air Chief Marshal\nTNI M Tonny Harjono is optimistic that the synergy with SGN can have a\npositive impact not only on increasing food production but also on\nstrengthening national independence and public welfare.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the Ministry of Agriculture is targeting 3.04 million to\n3.044 million tonnes of crystal sugar this year to support the\nself-sufficiency target.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, last year\u2019s target was only 97.54 percent of the target,\nnamely 2.67 million tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFood security is an important part of national resilience.\nTherefore, synergy and collaboration between institutions and with the\nbusiness sector need to continue to be strengthened,\u201d said Tonny.<\/p>",
