Sex orgy scandal rocks religious regency of Cianjur<\/p>\n

Police are questioning several teachers and students believed to
\nhave been involved in an orgy at a Cianjur school that has
\nstunned people in the regency. The police embarked on an
\ninvestigation into the case after reports in local media on
\nSunday over the scandal, said Adj. Comr. Wardoli, Cianjur Police
\nchief of detectives.<\/p>\n
The scandal was made public after a teacher reported to the
\nmedia that 11 students and a teacher were expelled from the
\nsenior high school after they were found to have involved in an
\norgy in a classroom. Some students were reported to have kissed
\neach other and had oral sex in the classroom. As the story went
\nto press, many Cianjur residents rushed to search for a video
\ncompact disc of the event, but to no avail. The event, however,
\nwas reported to have been recorded with a camera phone.<\/p>\n
The case has tarnished Cianjur's image, a poor regency of some
\ntwo million people. The regency is known for its devout Muslims
\nand has even imposed sharia. Its regent Wasidi Swastomo even
\nproclaimed on March 26, 2001 that he would prioritize moral
\ndevelopment in the Cianjur development plan.<\/p>\n
But, Aan Suwandi, principal of Cianjur II senior high school,
\nasserted that only two students were involved in the scandal, a
\nmale and a female student and they have been expelled from the
\nschool. The other nine students and a teacher were expelled for a
\ndifferent reason.<\/p>\n
"We hope that the case will not be blown out of proportion,"
\nsaid Aan.<\/p>\n
Other sources with the school said a teacher who was also a
\nschool counsellor summoned two students, Im and Yn, after they
\nwere caught smoking in a classroom.<\/p>\n
As the two young girls were reprimanded and labeled slutty by
\nthe teacher, they yelled back at the teacher and revealed that
\nmany more students in the school had been involved in
\nprostitution. The two students revealed that not only the
\nstudents, but a teacher with the school had also been involved in
\nprostitution. The two students even acknowledged they had had sex
\nwith teacher Dd in Cipanas tourist resort here, but Dd never paid
\nthem although he had promised to. Stunned by their account, the
\nschool launched an investigation into the case and questioned
\nteacher Dd, the two female students and other students who
\nreportedly were working as freelance sex workers.<\/p>\n
They were all expelled after they admitted their wrongdoing.<\/p>\n
Yn admitted to the media later on Sunday that she had kissed
\nand had oral sex inside the classroom and the scene was recorded
\nthrough a camera phone. But, she quickly added that it had been
\nerased from the camera phone and therefore it was not possible
\nthe scene could have been circulated in VCD form. Yn, who is five
\nmonths pregnant, has married her boyfriend while other students
\nare reportedly applying for other schools.<\/p>\n
Dani, a Cianjur resident, blamed consumerism for the rampant
\nprostitution among senior high school students in Cianjur.<\/p>\n
"Cianjur has been called a religious regency, but who can
\nguarantee that religious education can overcome the growing
\nconsumerism among school students, promoted by television?" he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Although the students live in a remote regency, they are keen
\nto possess cell phones, cosmetics and enjoy the good life like
\nfellow teenagers in cities such as Jakarta and Bandung, said
