Sex aids seized at Soekarno-Hatta<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): Customs and Excise officers at Soekarno-Hatta
\nInternational Airport have foiled several attempts to smuggle
\nsexual aids and pornographic VCDs into the country over the past
\nsix months, an official said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Director General for Customs and Excise Permana Agung said the
\ndevices were seized from several arriving passengers who carried
\nthem in their baggage, or from packages mailed into the country.<\/p>\n
\"The devices were seized after the baggage and packages went
\nthrough the X ray at the airport,\" Permana said.<\/p>\n
The 33 devices confiscated by airport customs officers include
\nseveral vibrators, electronic penis enlargers, dildos and a life-
\nsized inflatable doll.<\/p>\n
Permana said possession of sexual aids violated Article 282 of
\nthe Criminal Code on vice goods, which carries a maximum
\npunishment of two years and eight months in jail.<\/p>\n
In May, customs also seized scores of sexual aids, including
\n280 male sexual aids, vibrators, penis enlargers and plastic
\nbreasts, which were shipped through couriers.<\/p>\n
Permana also said 12,084 illegal VCDs, most of which were
\npornographic, were confiscated by the airport's customs.<\/p>\n
Permana acknowledged that the number of confiscated VCDs was
\nrelatively low compared to the illegal VCDs in circulation in the
\ncapital.<\/p>\n
\"But that doesn't mean that a lot of illegal VCDs are getting
\npast customs inspection because the discs are usually smuggled
\ninto the country under several different titles, which are
\nduplicated later in the capital,\" Permana said.<\/p>\n
Permana also said that throughout the year, customs had
\nconfiscated more than 4,500 Viagra pills, and thousands of other
\nmedicines.<\/p>\n
Permana said the pills were seized because they had been
\nillegally imported to Indonesia without the health ministry's
\nconsent.<\/p>\n
Permana also said psychotropic drugs had been the most common
\ngoods confiscated by customs this year.<\/p>\n
In November, customs seized 40 kilograms of shabu-shabu
\n(crystal methamphetamine) which had been stuffed into three
\ngravestones. The drugs had a street value of billions of
