        "content": "<p>The Sumenep Police force in East Java has started distributing clean\nwater aid to several villages affected by extreme drought this dry\nseason. The move is a form of social commitment by the police to ease\nthe burden on communities struggling to access clean water.<\/p>\n<p>Sumenep Police Chief AKBP Anang Hardiyanto stated that the aid\ndistribution was based on area identification results. Sumenep Regency\nis known as one of the regions in East Java with high vulnerability to\ndrought disasters each year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe felt compelled to help residents. Based on our identification,\nSumenep always experiences clean water shortages during the dry season.\nThis aid comes from voluntary donations by members of the Sumenep\nPolice,\u201d said AKBP Anang in Sumenep on Tuesday (23\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The clean water distribution activity is also part of the series of\nevents commemorating the 80th Bhayangkara Day. Beyond being a\nhumanitarian action, the programme aims to strengthen synergy between\nthe Indonesian National Police and the community in maintaining public\nsecurity and order.<\/p>\n<p>The distribution is carried out collaboratively with the Social\nAffairs Agency and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of\nSumenep Regency. The initial distribution began on Sunday (21\/6),\ntargeting Larangan Barma Village in Batuputih Sub-district, and will\ncontinue to other vulnerable villages.<\/p>\n<p>Based on data from the Sumenep Regency BPBD, there are 70 villages\nspread across 19 sub-districts that routinely experience a clean water\ncrisis during the dry season. To address this, the Sumenep Regency\nGovernment has also prepared long-term mitigation measures.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to police assistance, the Sumenep Regency Government is\ncooperating with the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) and engaging\nthe private sector through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)\nprogrammes to ensure the clean water supply is maintained for residents\nin need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want the slogan \u2018Police for the Community\u2019 to truly be felt\nthrough real actions that touch the basic needs of residents,\u201d concluded\nAKBP Anang.<\/p>",
