The lift at Lebak Bulus MRT Station was\naffected, trapping several people inside. \u201cPeople were trapped in the\nlift due to a power outage in several areas of Jakarta. Alhamdulillah,\nthey were successfully evacuated by the fire department officers,\u201d said\na resident at the scene, Ijoel, when confirmed by detikcom on Thursday\n(9\/4\/2026). Ijoel, who was at Lebak Bulus MRT Station and witnessed the\nincident, reported it to officers from the Jakarta Fire and Rescue\nAgency (Gulkarmat). According to the South Jakarta Fire Department\nreport, the report was received by officers at 18:16 WIB. One rescue\nteam from the South Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-District Office and the East\nPejaten Task Force was deployed to the location. The officers brought\nequipment to evacuate the residents trapped in the lift. \u201cEvacuation of\npeople trapped inside the lift,\u201d said the Head of South Jakarta\nGulkarmat Sub-District Office, Asril Rizal. The evacuation process was\ncarried out from 18:20 WIB and completed at 18:40 WIB. Around 10 people\nwere trapped in the lift and could be evacuated. \u201cAt 17:58 WIB, the\nstation\u2019s electricity went out, security officers tried to provide\nassistance to help get the trapped passengers out of the downtrack side\nlift,\u201d he said. However, because of the power outage, the initial\nevacuation efforts were unsuccessful. The lift door was eventually\nforced open. \u201cFinally, the fire department team requested approval from\nthe Station Manager and the RBM Team to forcibly open the lift door.\nAfter it was forced open, the passengers could finally be rescued and\nremoved from the lift without any injuries,\u201d he stated. MRT Jakarta\nOperations Temporarily Affected The operations of MRT Jakarta were\ntemporarily affected due to the power outage in several areas of\nJakarta. Several MRT Jakarta stations were impacted that afternoon. \u201cPT\nMRT Jakarta (Perseroda) states that there was an operational disruption\nat several stations on Thursday, 9 April 2026, at 17:57 WIB,\u201d said the\nHead of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta, Rendy\nPrimartantyo, when contacted on Thursday (9\/4). Rendy said the power\nsupply from PLN was temporarily constrained. He mentioned that\nfacilities at MRT Jakarta stations experienced disruptions, but they\nhave now returned to normal. \u201cThis operational disruption was caused by\na power supply constraint from the PLN side (CSW), resulting in some\nstation facilities, such as lighting, elevators, escalators, and other\nfacilities, experiencing disruptions. PLN Jakarta Raya Main Distribution Unit (UID Jaya\/Disjaya) is\ncarrying out gradual power normalisation.
