Jakarta \u2013 Several foreign airlines have cancelled and suspended\nflights to and from cities in the Middle East following the escalation\nof the Iran-Israel conflict.<\/p>\n
Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that airlines that have\nsuspended temporary operations include Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways,\nEmirates, Malaysia Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Indigo Airlines,\nSrilanka Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and\nScoot.<\/p>\n
\u201cSaudia Airlines is still monitoring several destinations in the\nMiddle East, Oman Air is operating normally, and Ethiopian Airlines\ncontinues to operate normally but is not operating flights to Amman\n(Jordan) and Tel Aviv (Israel),\u201d Dudy said in an official statement on\nSunday (1 March 2026).<\/p>\n
Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air, which traverse Middle Eastern\nairspace, have not been affected by the conflict.<\/p>\n
\u201cGaruda Indonesia and Lion Air flights to Jeddah have not been\naffected, whilst Garuda Indonesia flights to Amsterdam have been\nrerouted via Cairo (Egypt),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Dudy urged international airlines operating routes to or crossing the\nMiddle East to increase vigilance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe urge airlines to increase vigilance and passengers to actively\nmonitor information developments,\u201d Dudy said.<\/p>\n
On 28 February 2026, Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei\ndied in a combined military operation by the United States and Israel.\nThe military operation was claimed to be for \u201celiminating an immediate\nthreat\u201d.<\/p>\n
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described Khamenei\u2019s killing as a\n\u201cdeclaration of war against the Islamic community\u201d and promised\nretaliation.<\/p>\n
The impact of the conflict has spread to several countries.\nExplosions were heard in Dubai, Riyadh, Manama, and Qatar. Duqm port in\nOman became a target of drone attacks. Oil tanker ships were also\ntargeted.<\/p>\n
The incident resulted in hundreds of deaths in Iran.
