Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2013 The South Jakarta Administrative City Government\nsaid seven traders were still awaiting verification of asset status as\npart of the redevelopment of the Setu Babakan area in Jagakarsa.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf the 216 traders, in principle, action has been taken in all\ncases. There are still seven traders who have not yet been dealt with\nbecause we need to establish the status of the assets concerned,\u201d South\nJakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo told reporters on Jalan Bangka, South\nJakarta, on Friday.<\/p>\n
He said that, in principle, the city had addressed the cases of all\n216 traders in the area. However, the seven were still awaiting\nconfirmation of the status of the assets on which they trade.<\/p>\n
According to him, the government needs information on the assets\u2019\nstatus from the relevant regional agencies before carrying out any\nfurther enforcement.<\/p>\n
Once the status has been confirmed, the government can verify the\nlocations occupied or used for trading by the seven traders.<\/p>\n
He said improvements to the area were continuing in parallel with\nefforts to resolve the issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cImprovements are continuing,\u201d said the former head of the Jakarta\nTransportation Agency.<\/p>\n
The city hopes it can complete the redevelopment of Setu Babakan once\nthe verification process is finished, enabling the area to be used in\naccordance with regulations.<\/p>\n
Measures involving the traders are part of the government\u2019s efforts\nto redevelop Setu Babakan, known as one of South Jakarta\u2019s centres for\npreserving Betawi culture.<\/p>\n
